Making Music with Others
Making music is a fun and sociable activity. Joining a Music Centre activity gives you the chance to meet, play and perform with other like-minded musicians.
Create Music String Ensemble
Please prepare to give a fluent performance of your choice of two contrasting pieces of appropriate difficulty (grade 6 or above). You will be asked to introduce the pieces, including the title and composer. Please also prepare for sight reading.
The audition will last for approximately 10 minutes.
Meet the Tutors
Stephen Giles
Conductor
Stephen has worked with professional orchestras in the UK and abroad, in addition to working with chamber ensembles and in film and TV. He has worked with Create Music (formerly East Sussex Music) since 2000 and teaches violin and viola to children aged 5 to 18, in schools in the Lewes area, and in several ensembles across the service. He is now the lead conductor for Create Music's Youth String Ensemble.
Andrew Sherwood
Conductor Emeritus
Andrew Sherwood has performed in many parts of the world as a conductor and violinist. He is Professor of Violin at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and is currently a guest conductor for Create Music Youth String Ensemble.
