Sounds Like Us

5 Mar 2026

Create Music are excited to announce a brand new event at this year's Brighton Festival, Sounds Like Us

Sounds Like Us is a bold, youth-curated event reimagining the sounds of yesterday for today. Taking inspiration from music of the 1960s, emerging performers aged 14-19 from Sussex will take over Brighton Dome Studio Theatre for an evening of music, dance, poetry and more.

Shaped and designed by a youth panel alongside young creative professionals, this multidisciplinary event will showcase up-and-coming talent from across Sussex.

Auditions
Applications to take part are now open!

We are inviting students aged 14–19 to audition and are looking for performers and musicians of any discipline and genre.

This year marks the 60th edition of Brighton Festival. We’re asking young creatives to re-imagine and regenerate music from 60 years ago - taking inspiration from sounds of the 1960s and blending them with the music, culture and influences they engage with today to create something new.

To apply for a place to take part, please complete the application form by Sunday 15 March by clicking here
