Create Music's Youth String Ensemble is delighted to be performing in St Mary's Church for the first time this autumn, as part of their Fine Music for Free recital series. Each event offers a 45–60 minute performance, with wine and nibbles available before and after the recital.
On this evening, the ensemble will perform music for strings by Leoš Janáček, Libby Croad, and Felix Mendelssohn, placing classical tradition alongside more contemporary voices. Janáček’s distinctive musical language, Croad’s fresh and engaging writing, and Mendelssohn’s youthful String Symphony No. 10 in B minor offer a varied and expressive programme, showcasing both the versatility of the string ensemble and the skill of these emerging performers.
St Mary's Church is an inclusive and welcoming church situated in a vibrant and diverse part of Brighton. It is also said to be one of Brighton’s architectural glories, affectionately known as the ‘Cathedral of Kemp Town’.
There is a suggested minimum donation of £5, with ticket income and any additional donations shared between the musicians and the church, supporting both live music and the life of St Mary’s.
