On Thursday 19 June, the Sussex Music Hub which includes Create Music and West Sussex Music, held the Secondary Music Conference at the University of Sussex in Brighton.
The event brought together hub partners and exam boards as well as colleagues from schools across the region. Delegates heard keynotes on assessment and progression in the secondary music classroom and introduced the idea of ‘grooving’ in the classroom. Workshops were also offered including music technology, creative use of AI and singing.
One delegate said: ‘One of the biggest impacts of the conference was reminding me that I'm a musician and to teach music musically. When ideas and processes come through school it is very easy to drift away from this. The conference was an opportunity to reset and return with fresh ideas a clearer mindset.’
Thank you to everyone who attended. We look forward to welcoming you back next year.
