Taking place at five venues across Brighton & Hove and East Sussex, Create Music’s Summer School returns from 1 to 19 July, with 37 short courses for 6 to 18-year-olds at all stages of their musical journey.
This year’s programme sees the return of some popular favourites, including instrument specific workshops and full ensemble playing, alongside some brand-new courses. Composing and Scoring for Film gives our older students the opportunity to delve into the world of story and character alongside industry know-how, while our Open Access courses are specially designed for students with no prior musical experience.
Summer Sinfonia comes to Music Summer School for the first time this year, giving more experienced players the chance to work as part of a larger orchestral ensemble, and Samba Band makes its way to Brighton after last year’s success in Eastbourne. Each course will end with a performance celebrating the students’ new musical skills.
The courses are from 1 to 3 days long and priced between £33 and £99. Current Create Music students are entitled to a 10% discount on fees, and bursaries of 50% are also available for families receiving certain income-related benefits.
Peter Chivers, Director of Create Music, said: 'We are so excited to announce the programme for Music Summer School 2024. At Create Music we believe in the power of music to transform young people’s lives; Music Summer School gives children of all ages and stages the opportunity to learn something new and experience the joy of making music. Summer School courses provide a fun, engaging experience in which young musicians are supported and encouraged as they work towards their celebration performance. I look forward to all the fantastic music making that will happen over three jam-packed weeks.'
We can’t wait to welcome students back to courses this July for Summer School 2024!
