We are able to support teachers and schools in a number of ways, including through Continuing Professional Development (CPD) events, professional networking and practice-sharing, hub working groups, online and in-person training and networking events, curriculum support, PPA cover, whole-class programmes, and advice and guidance including support on how to make music during the Covid19 pandemic. The best way to keep up-to-date with our programme is by joining our Music Education Network.

Our Music Education Network is open to anyone working in a school or college in Brighton & Hove or East Sussex.

All Create Music teachers have been through a rigorous selection process, including enhanced DBS and other pre-employment checks (in line with our Safer Recruitment policy). All teachers also take part in a programme of induction, ongoing appraisal and programme of Continuing Professional Development to ensure we deliver high-quality learning experiences and remain up-to-date with the latest developments in music education.

Yes. We operate a flexible system that allows us to tailor the length and format of lessons to best suit the needs of learners. We also offer inclusive ensembles for young people with SEND that take place on Saturdays in Brighton and Eastbourne. Yes. We are able to provide specialist tutors to run instrumental/vocal music clubs. Please contact the area manager to discuss this.

Yes. We operate a Young Musicians Bursary Scheme to support families on low incomes and also work with organisations such as Awards for Young Musician to deliver target programmes that provide financial support for pupils. Children in Care are also able to access free group tuition and instrument hire.

Performances linked to recruitment for instrumental/vocal lessons can be offered at different times during the year. Usually, these performances take place during the summer term in infant/junior/primary schools and at the start of the autumn term in secondary schools. However, please contact the relevant area manager if you would like to arrange a performance or bespoke recruitment event.

We do maintain a stock of instruments for pupils who have lessons with us and we work with schools to provide sets of instruments for whole class ensemble tuition (e.g. First Access of Soundmakers programmes). It may also be possible to borrow other instruments for use in school. Please contact us to discuss your request.

Yes. Each year we run the Big Sing, a vocal project that takes place during the autumn term, culminating in a series of performances each December. During the year we also offer a variety of projects and performance opportunities for schools across the region. In the majority of cases, we put out an open call to schools who are eligible to take part. Make sure that you are on our mailing list and that you have joined the Music Education Network to make sure you never miss an opportunity.
