All school choirs/singing groups will need to learn a carefully curated and especially selected programme of vocal repertoire. All the songs will need to be sung from memory to a total of approximately 35 minutes of music, with some songs also including Makaton. Each school can apply to bring a group of up to 30 Year 4-6 students, which can be your school choir or a class group. This year's resource pack will include supporting lesson plans so you can teach the one voice resources as part of your KS2 curriculum music lesson.
CPD Launch Event
17 June, 1.30 - 5pm | Glyndebourne
This year we are inviting all schools to an extended half day CPD Launch at Glyndebourne. The CPD Launch is an integral part of the project for teachers: it is your opportunity to learn the songs, explore and navigate all the resources, develop your singing leadership, meet the project team and ask any questions.
Please note, schools must have completed the registration and have been allocated a performance in order to attend.
Working with world class musicians and a Glyndebourne opera singer was the most powerful of experiences for all- it will stay with those children for the rest of their lives, of that I am confident.Teacher from participating School
Costs, Support and Performance Allocation
Travel
To help with transport costs, Create Music has allocated additional funding for travel bursaries. Schools are responsible for arranging and paying for their own transport however, schools hiring coaches may apply for a bursary of up to 40% of the hire fee. Please note that funding is limited and schools may not received the full amount requested. Full details on how to apply for a bursary will be sent to schools following application.
Costs
A £165 school contribution will be payable for each participating school. The only other costs will relate to travel (see above).
Additional Support
In addition to the CPD Launch event and resource pack shared in June, further support will be available to participating schools in the Autumn term to include an in-person visit to your choir from a member of the Create Music vocal team and/or Glyndebourne singer.
Performance Allocation & Choir Places
We are delighted that applications to One Voice have been growing steadily over the last few years. We really value the commitment of schools who return year on year as well as welcoming new schools each year to this project. However due to high demand and limited capacity, we anticipate that we will be oversubscribed across the whole project and are therefore introducing some criteria to enable us to select which schools will be offered places at the concerts this year.
Previously, we have tried to meet school requests to bring more than 30 children. Please note that for One Voice 2026 we expect 30 places to be the maximum offered to each school at all venues as this will enable more schools to take part. If you have previously brought a larger choir, we would recommend that you review which pupils are invited to take part in One Voice; we suggest focusing on year 5/6 only for this opportunity.
To ensure a fair and transparent process we wanted to let all schools know that the selection criteria considered will include:
- Date of application. Schools must apply by the deadline but please note that places will not be offered on a first-come-first-served basis
- Percentage of school population receiving Free School Meals
- Level of engagement with the Music Hub
- Flexibility of venue choice
