Meet the Tutors
Peter Chivers is a trumpeter, teacher and founder of the Create Music Youth Big Band. After a professional performing career with orchestras and jazz ensembles, he moved into music education and is now Director of Create Music, leading opportunities for young musicians across Sussex. Under his direction, the Big Band has performed at venues and events including the Montreux Jazz Festival, Brighton Festival and Music for Youth Festival. Peter encourages members to take ownership of the band's musical direction, helping young musicians shape repertoire, programmes and creative projects.
Björn Mcateer Dahlberg teaches saxophone, clarinet, flute and keyboard, and leads the Hastings Jazz & Funk Band. He holds a Master of Education in Jazz Saxophone from the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and has spent almost 20 years touring internationally as a keyboard player with The Show – A Tribute to ABBA.
