We are delighted to be partnering with the London Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO) again to host their Overture Day at Ratton School, Eastbourne, in April!
Applications are now open!
Overture days are free, fun orchestral skills days where participants play alongside LPO musicians, get tips on musicianship and find out what happens behind the scenes of a professional orchestra. On this Overture day we will play a varied selection of music, including Georges Bizet’s Farandole from L’Arlesienne Suite, Soon Hee Newbold’s Gravitas, and the television theme ‘Thunderbirds March’ from Thunderbirds, by Barry Gray – arr. Richard Ling. Our conductor will be Susanna Riddell.
At 4pm there will be a performance showcasing the pieces we have explored, which will be open to friends and family.
Date: Sunday 12 April 2026
Time: 11am - 4.30pm (Performance at 4pm)
Venue: Ratton School, Park Avenue, Eastbourne, BN21 2XR
The days are for young musicians aged 10 – 15 and Grade 3+ standard (they do not need to have taken/passed the exam) on their orchestral instrument. Applications are open to all but priority will be given to young musicians from backgrounds and communities that are under-represented in professional UK orchestras, who may be eligible for LPO Junior Artists in the future.
Participation is free. The deadline for applications is 9am, Monday 2 March.
