Sussex Music Hub

Sussex Music Hub brings together partners across Brighton & Hove, East Sussex, and West Sussex to ensure that every child and young person in the region experiences the life-changing benefits of music – enriching education, wellbeing, and future opportunities.

Create Music part of Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival, is the Hub Lead Organisation of the Sussex Music Hub and works collaboratively with the West Sussex Music Trust to deliver the ambitions of the National Plan for Music Education (NPME).

The Sussex Music Hub is funded by the Department for Education to deliver a high-quality, inclusive and sustainable music education offer for every child and young person across Brighton & Hove, East Sussex and West Sussex.

Create Music delivers music education activity in Brighton & Hove and East Sussex, with West Sussex Music delivering activity in West Sussex.

Our Vision

A future where children and young peoples’ lives are forever transformed by the power of music, the value of belonging, and opportunities without barriers.

Our Mission

We centre the voices of children, young people, and adults in our cities, towns, and villages to: - Inspire engagement with a diverse range of music genres and activities - Co-design, teach, develop, and showcase participants by connecting them with teachers, youth workers, creative practitioners, and cultural workers - Provide access to information, expertise, space, and resources to facilitate learning and innovation in music

Our priorities include relevance to local identities, nurturing talent, and exploring the synergy between high-quality provision and creative risk-taking.

Our Values

  • We are Welcoming & Relevant – co-creating with young people and partners, ensuring there are lots of opportunities for taking part and seeking out those who are not yet engaged.

  • We are Caring & Credible – respectful and aware of the impact our actions have on others, always considering equality, diversity, youth culture, accountability, transparency, and opportunities to learn and grow.

  • We are Curious & Courageous – seeking knowledge and best practice, testing new ideas, and working across different sectors to keep our work dynamic and ambitious.

Our Partners

The Sussex Music Hub works with a large group of local and national partners to achieve our vision and mission for music for children and young people across the region. Find out more about our partners here
