Our Future Music

Collaboratively and sustainably overcoming barriers to music-making for children and young people

Our Future Music is a regional programme, delivered by Music Education Hubs across the southeast to address barriers to music-making for children and young people in a collaborative, innovative and sustainable way.

We offer inclusive music programmes for children and young people, training and resources for other organisations.

What We Do

  • Co-develop diverse and inclusive musical programmes with young people
  • Support young people with Special Educational Needs and/or Disability (SEND)
  • Facilitate youth-led music spaces, based in local communities
  • Provide training and resources that incorporate inclusive approaches
  • Co-develop and deliver inclusive activities with partner organisations
  • Create new access points to Music Education Hubs for children and young people

A 10 Year Strategy

This five-year programme will establish a 10-year strategy built on three strategic pillars, designed to impact on musical engagement, social mobility, and community cohesion:

  • Workforce training and professional development, supporting music leaders to develop more inclusive approaches
  • Community-based ‘music spaces’, putting young people at the heart of developing new music programmes in their community settings
  • Inclusive ensembles, promoting progression routes for children and young people with SEN/D and/or in challenging circumstances.

Our Future Music Partners
