Eligibility
Bursaries are available for children attending local authority maintained schools, foundation schools, voluntary schools, academies, free schools and grammar schools.
To apply, you must be in receipt of one of the following:
- Child Tax Credit
- Working Tax Credit
- Universal Credit
- Income Support
- Income based Employment Support Allowance
- Income based Job Seekers Allowance
- Pension Credit
BURSARY LEVELS AVAILABLE
From September 2024
STANDARD BURSARY - 25% discount
Available for families whose annual income (including benefits) is below £25,500
PUPIL PREMIUM ASSISTED BURSARY - 85% Discount
Your school may be able to contribute a further 60% discount towards the cost of group lessons using Pupil Premium funding, to provide an 85% discount in total.
We will apply to the school on your behalf.

Instrument Hire
All pupils in receipt of a bursary will receive 100% discount on ONE hire instrument per child until August 2025 subject to availability of stock.

*All new applications for brass and woodwind instruments will receive free instrument hire until July 2024!
Evidence
Please add the Young Musician’s Bursary Application to your basket when applying for lessons online, or apply via the link below.
Applications will only be accepted if accompanied by evidence of income/ benefits/ supporting statements. This can include scans or photographs of letters and statements from HMRC/DWP detailing the benefit award.
Tax Credits
If you wish to apply for a bursary and are in receipt of Tax Credits, you need to attach the following pages from your 2024-25 Tax Credit Award to your application:
- The front cover
- The page which gives details of your household earned income
- Part 2 which shows how your Working Tax Credit is calculated if you receive it.
Universal Credit
If you are receiving Universal Credit, please submit all pages of your 3 most recent monthly statements and we will be able to let you know if you are eligible to receive a subsidy.
We are unable to refund retrospectively if you do not apply for a bursary at the time you apply for tuition. Please remember to enclose your documents as we will need them in order to process your application. Please let us know if your circumstances change.
