All school choirs/singing groups will be asked to learn a carefully curated and especially selected programme of vocal repertoire. All the songs will need to be sung from memory to a total of approximately 35 minutes of music, with some songs also including Makaton. Each school can apply to bring a group of up to 30 KS2 students, which can be your school choir or a class group. This year's resource pack will include supporting lesson plans so you can teach the one voice resources as part of your KS2 curriculum music lesson.
We aim to allocate each school their first-choice venue, however if performances are oversubscribed, we will contact you to discuss offering an alternative location.
Teacher Launch Events
All choir leaders from participating schools will be asked to attend a One Voice launch event in June/July where they will be guided through all of the songs and we will share teaching tips and ideas together with a full set of digital resources to support learning.
- Brighton - Wed 25 June, 4 - 6pm | Sound Rooms, Lewes Road
- Bexhill - Thur 26 June, 4 - 6pm | De La Warr Pavilion
- Glyndebourne - Wed 2 July, 4 - 6pm | Glyndebourne
Choir leaders are invited to attend whichever session is most convenient. Please note, schools must have completed the registration and have been allocated a performance in order to attend.
Working with world class musicians and a Glyndebourne opera singer was the most powerful of experiences for all- it will stay with those children for the rest of their lives, of that I am confident.Teacher who participated in One Voice 2024
Travel, Costs and Additional Support
Travel
To help schools with transport costs, Create Music have allocated additional funding for travel bursaries. Schools will need to arrange and pay for their own transport. Schools hiring coaches can apply to Create Music for a travel bursary of up to a maximum of 40% of the hire fee. However please note that we have a limited amount of funding to support travel bursaries and while we aim to help every school with funds, you may not receive the full amount that you request. Full details of how to apply for a travel bursary will be sent to schools following application.
Costs
A £165 school contribution will be payable for each participating school. The only other costs will relate to travel (see above).
Additional Support
In addition to the launch event and resources pack shared in June/July, further support will be available to participating schools in the Autumn term to include an in-person visit to your choir from a member of the Create Music vocal team.
