Courses start at £37.50* for a one-day course and are available for a range of instruments/voices, with opportunities for children and young people from year 2 to year 13.
No experience necessary - our Open Access Courses (Let's Sing, Let's Play Ukulele, Samba Band, GarageBand and Debut Music Production, Sing - Make - Play! require no previous experience – just sign up and come along!
Performance opportunities - there are great opportunities for children who have been learning an instrument for 1 year or more to play in bands and ensembles for more experienced musicians. Students in our String Workshop, Wind Band Workshop, Summer String Ensemble and Summer Concert Band also get to play a concert in the state-of-the-art Auditorium at Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts.
Tech courses - from GarageBand for beginners to our specialist Composing and Scoring for Film and Games courses for ages 15-18, we have something for students at all levels.
*if you are currently a Create Music student you will automatically receive a 10% discount and if your child receives income-related Free School Meals, or your annual family income is below, £25,500, you will be entitled to a further 25% bursary.

Taking place in fantastic venues like Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts, Music Summer School offers 38 exciting courses designed for children and young people of all ages and musical experience levels - from complete beginners to experienced young musicians.
Whether your child already plays an instrument and is looking to further their skills; or just enjoys music and exploring new things, there’s something for everyone. We’re offering a brilliant mix of returning favourites and fun, accessible options like Samba Band, Let’s Play Ukulele, GarageBand, Let’s Sing, and Debut Music Production - with no previous experience needed!
And brand new for 2025 ‘Sing - Make - Play!’ a chance for young performers to create and star in their own show - in just three days! A fantastic way to build confidence, creativity, and teamwork.
All courses are led by our dedicated team of experienced Create Music teachers and supervisors, ensuring a safe, supportive, and exciting environment where every child can thrive. Each course ends with a celebratory performance so you can see just how much they’ve learned - and how much fun they’ve had.
